Well one of the least busy weeks of the winter has now passed and I got almost everything accomplished that I needed to. I crossed off the big "get the basement cleaned out" line on the to do list and what a process that was. After 4 kids in the last 9 years we had a lot of stuff to get rid of. Thank goodness for resale stores, charities, and dumpsters. On the farm we received a load of seed corn, ordered parts for the planter, and are trying to fine tune our herbicide program for this year. This year we are trying to change the mode of action we are using in our herbicie program so we do not start to get any resistance built up with certain types of chemical or weeds.
This week also brings on the annual Farmland Investment Fair which is organized by The Chicago Farmers Organization. Dad is once again the chairman of the event and is in the final stages of putting the pieces together for a successful program. If anyone is attending the Farmland Investment Fair next Saturday look for dad or myself in the Martin Family Farms booth. For more information or to register go to www.chicagofarmers.org
