What a good week to have some cold weather, because we had plenty to do
inside to keep busy. With all of the basketball and baseball every weekend
the boys and I managed to sneak down to St. Louis for one day of the Cardinal
winter warm up. This is always a good time and the boys got to meet
several of the players and had a good time. It was also a sad weekend though as
we mourned the loss of Stan “The Man” Musial. It was a great time for the
boys to learn more about the history of Stan Musial and the cardinals. It
was really a touching moment when we stopped by the statue outside of the
ballpark.
We also spent a day at the winter meetings hosted by
Precision Planting this week. Every time I come away from one of their
meetings amazed at how we can use technology on the farm and this week was no
exception. Probably the most exciting thing for me yesterday was the
adoption of the cloud technology. This spring we will be able to monitor
our corn planters almost in real time no matter where we are at. We will
have an IPAD in each planter tractor and every 10 minutes information will be
sent into the cloud and then back down to our mobile devices so I can see what
any corn planter is doing at any given time or from any place that had internet
access. We will also be looking at adding this technology to our combines
this fall so we can split screen maps and observe data at our fingertips. Some
of the prescription technology that will be coming in the next few years also
looks like it has promise as we will be able to farm by the inch instead of the
acre.

Doug,
My name is Scott Evans and I work in Tractor Supply Co.’s online marketing department.
I’m writing you today for a couple of reasons. First, I’ve seen your website and I think it’d be great for our affiliate program. The affiliate program works like this: you place a Tractor Supply ad banner on your site and when someone clicks on it and makes an online purchase, you’ll receive a commission. The program is very simple to use and costs you absolutely nothing. Secondly, there is a huge event coming up at Tractor Supply named Chick Days, that would impact online sales and generate commissions for you, so this would be a great time to join.
Chick Days is a two month long event at Tractor Supply that celebrates all things chickens. Beginning in February, Chick Days starts and customers can purchase a wide variety of baby chicks in our stores and the supplies and equipment needed to properly care for them. We offer everything a customer needs to support their backyard flock.
This year we are having a Chick Days sales contest for affiliates. The affiliate with the most sales attributed to their website wins the grand prize. I can’t say what that prize is just yet, but I do know it’s something every farm, big or small, can use.
We use LinkShare for our affiliate network. Signing up is fast and easy. Once you’ve signed up, you can search for Tractor Supply, or use our ID 35230, to send an application to join our network.
